Coro Bajolese

Speciality

Founded by Amerigo Vigliermo, the Coro Bajolese was established in 1966 in Bajo Dora, in the Canavese region (Piedmont, Italy), and since then has been dedicated to researching and collecting the oral tradition of this geographical and historical area north of Turin.

In 1975, the choir founded the Canavese Ethnological Center and today, thanks to extensive and systematic field research, it holds an extensive repertoire of songs learned directly from local people. Thousands of songs are now available in the volume
“1966-2018 – I canti Opera omnia”, with the primary goal of raising awareness within the community about its unique and valuable cultural identity.

Always with deep respect for tradition, the choir also carries out important outreach activities through publications and participation in radio and television programs, as well as numerous evenings where it recreates a warm and festive atmosphere.
