Flora Sarzotti and Mario Proietto – Sweden

Speciality

United in dance and in life, Flora and Mario have been carrying on the repertoire of Swedish dances together for over 20 years. For Flora, the first encounter with the “polska” dates back to the early 1990s… since then, she has never let it go studying this repertoire with increasing dedication, intensifying trips to Sweden with Mario and learning from the most renowned masters, including Lena and Gunnar Iggendal, Beret Bertilsdotter, Margareta and Leif Virtanen, Helen and Stig Eriksson, Sven Olsson, Eva Englund, Bengt Wittgren, and Britt Eklund.

Together, in 2012, they achieved the prestigious Swedish recognition of the “Big Silver Medal test for polska dancing,” crowning years of study and deep passion for Swedish dances.

Polskas are the most distinctive dances of Sweden’s folk tradition. These dances have evolved over time and exist in many different expressive forms. They are often compared to the quintessential of partner dance, i.e. the tango, and are sometimes called the “Tango of the North” because of the special connection that develops between partners. Passion, tenderness, momentum, and dynamism merge into the MAGIC of spinning in a never-ending dream… A MUST-TRY!!!!!
