Carolando was founded in Ivrea in the spring of 1997. The association aims to research and promote national and international folk dance by organizing workshops and seminars open to everyone. It participates in popular events with demonstrations to involve the public. It consolidates its knowledge by attending courses in Italy and abroad. Carolando also offers game dances and historical dances from various countries’ traditions in mandatory schools.

It is one of the organizing associations of the Gran Bal Trad, a festival of folk dance and music held annually in Vialfrè, Piedmont.
