Claudio De Angeli is a musician and teacher with a long career in traditional folk music. He has been a member of Liguriani, Birkin Tree, and the Filippo Gambetta Trio, recording numerous albums and touring internationally with them.
In 2008, he released his solo album, Lassù nell’Oregon, featuring instrumental pieces and original songs, with the participation of many musicians he has collaborated with over the years.
He regularly plays in Irish Trad Sessions in various pubs in Milan and Genoa, both as a accompanist on guitar and as a tenor banjo soloist. He has deepened his knowledge of Irish sessions by traveling to Ireland several times and playing with leading traditional artists.
The DADGAD guitar workshops he offers in Vialfré are practical and engaging. It begins with an introduction to the essential role of the guitar in Irish traditional music, focusing on the main features of the DADGAD tuning. Participants will then learn some classic Irish tunes before moving on to the practical part, where we will compose the accompaniment for a set of three jigs and another of three reels.
The goal is to provide participants with tools needed to play naturally with other musicians, developing an understanding of accompaniment and the dynamics of Irish sessions. The workshop is intended for intermediate to advanced guitarists, as long as they have a good background in guitar—regardless of their musical genre. It will be an opportunity to explore a new technique and enrich your repertoire in a fun and stimulating way.
